Here at Colectivo Umbral, we understand that all humans are artists. Our humanist approach to education aims to awaken the artist in every child by centering learning around their unique talents and point of view.

Classes at Colectivo Umbral

Circus Arts

In this naturally individualized class, students develop circus skills including juggling, plate spinning, poi, hula hoop, diabolo, flower sticks, stilt walking, and clowning while working towards an end of season performance! Theater, dance, science, music, and meditation are integrated into this learning experience. Class is hosted in English and Spanish by Kat and Mar.

STEAM

Ignite a passion for science and engineering in this hands-on, project-based class. With units individually designed for small pods of students, enthusiastic learners use the scientific method to facilitate authentic discovery around a topic of their choice and apply their knowledge to complete engineering challenges using the engineering design loop. Class is hosted in English by t Kat.

Music Production

Discover yourself as a musician while learning a second language in this Spanish-immersion music production class. Working in pods of no more than 4 students, artists tap into their unique talents and strengths to produce original songs. Class is hosted in Spanish by Primi.

Visual Arts

Awaken your inner artist in this individualized, project-based class offered 1:1 or in small pods. Directed by the unique talents and point-of-view of learners, students mindfully create works of art in a judgement-free space. Class is hosted in English and Spanish by Colleen Simmons.

Movement

Explore the potential of the human body when guided by the power of music in this play-centered discovery experience. Designed to allow dancers to tap into a wide range of emotions and spiritual identities, dancers discover the ecstasy of music and rhythm. Class is hosted in English and Spanish by Aura and Mar.
